Privacy policy

How this site handles your data

This policy covers the website media-archive.codelaw.pro: what it measures about your visit, which services receive that data, and how you choose.

Version 1, effective October 12, 2026.

Who we are

CodeLaw ("we") makes media archive and runs this website. Contact: friends@codelaw.pro.

The media archive software itself runs on your Mac and uploads to buckets in your own AWS account. Your footage and files never reach us, so this policy does not cover them.

What this site collects

  • The pages you view, the page you came from, your device, browser and screen, and your approximate location from your IP address, as far as your choice allows (see Cookies and your choices).
  • With Datadog RUM: page speed, errors, clicks and a replay of what the page showed during your visit. Text you type is masked in your browser before anything is sent.
  • Your consent choice, kept in your own browser.
  • When you write to us or book a call: what you send.

Services that receive visitor data

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google): measures visits. With your consent it uses cookies; without it, Google receives only measurements without cookies or identifiers (Google Consent Mode).
  • Datadog RUM (Datadog, US data center): page speed, errors, clicks and session replay with typed text masked; it sets a cookie for the visit and runs only while your choice allows.
  • Vercel: hosts this website and receives your IP address and browser details with every request. A Vercel function tells our banner your country and region from your IP address; we do not store them.
  • Calendly, only when you book a call: what you enter there is collected on Calendly's own site.
  • Google Workspace (our email), only when you write to us.

Cookies and your choices

  • This site uses Google Consent Mode and its own banner; no consent service of another company is involved.
  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Quebec, nothing is stored on your device and Datadog RUM does not start until you choose Accept; until then Google Analytics receives only measurements without cookies. Vercel tells where you are from your IP address; when it cannot, you are treated as being in one of these regions.
  • Elsewhere, Google Analytics and Datadog RUM run by default, the banner says so, and Reject turns them off.
  • Your choice is saved in your browser (local storage) with its date and the version of this policy. You are asked again when this policy gets a new version; a refusal always stays. The Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page changes it at any time.

How long it is kept

  • Google Analytics keeps visit data for 14 months.
  • Datadog keeps RUM sessions and session replays for 30 days.
  • Vercel keeps request logs for a short time to run the site.
  • Your consent choice stays in your browser until you clear it.

Your rights

Google, Datadog and Vercel process this data in the United States and other countries. We do not sell personal data, and this site runs no advertising tags. You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of data about you by writing to friends@codelaw.pro.

Changes

When what this site collects changes, this policy gets a new version and date, and the banner asks you again.
